Welcome to Learning by Design podcast, the official podcast of Masterpiece Academy, where we talk about how to shape education with purpose, intention and truth. I'm your host, Krishna Kart. And today's episode is foundational to who we are and what we're building here at Masterpiece. We're diving into a question that's both timely and timeless. Why does biblical based education still matter in 2025?
In an age of AI, instant access to information, and shifting cultural values, some people wonder if there's still a place for a biblical foundation in education.
My answer? Well, absolutely. Not only is there a room for it, there's an urgent need for it. So today's episode is going to speak to both parents and educators, because together, we're raising and teaching a generation that's being shaped by forces far beyond the classroom. But we believe that school should be a place where truth is not just taught, but lived. Let's get into it.
So let's talk about. First, about what biblical based education means.
So I just wanted to clarify. Biblical based education is not about just adding Bible class to an otherwise secular model. It's not a Christian spin on public school curriculum. Biblical based education is a worldview, a lens through which all knowledge is viewed. While at the Masterpiece Academy, we believe that every subject, math, science, literature, history, tells part of a bigger story. The story of God's design, order, beauty and truth. We integrate them. We're not teaching kids what to think. We're teaching them how to think critically, biblically and wisely. In a world full of noise and destruction, that kind of formation is not optional. Well, it is essential, isn't it?
Okay, so now let's talk about the cultural climate of our kids growing up. Okay, so let's be honest. Our kids are growing up in a world that's very confusing. Social media shapes their identity. Entertainment defines their values. Algorithms tell them what to believe. That's why we can't afford to be passive about education.
Parents, your child's learning environment is shaping far more than just their gpa. It's shaping their worldview, their convictions, and their character. Educators, you're on the front lines. You know my colleagues, you know that today's classroom are not just academic battlegrounds, they're spiritual ones. That's why biblical based education is not a luxury. It's a necessity. We need Schools that just don't prepare kids to pass a test, but prepares them to stand firm. Firm in truth. We need to help them navigate identity, culture, ethics, and purpose through the lens of scripture.
So why parents are reevaluating education in 2025? Well, at the Masterpiece Academy, we're working hard to meet this moment. Our live, asynchronous hybrid model will give families the flexibilities they need with the structure and support they value. We serve students in grades K 12 through project based experiential learning that's grounded in a biblical worldview and aligned with college and career readiness standards. While our program is especially ideal for homeschooling families, military and mission families, or anyone seeking a whole child approach to learning, one that is academically rigorous, one that is academically rigorous, spiritually rooted, and emotionally supportive, there's been a huge shift in how families think about school. The pandemic opened the door, but what we're seeing now is deeper. Parents are asking what's really being taught? What values are driving my child's education?
Is this preparing them for life or just for a system?
Biblical based, flexible education is answering those questions. It's offering a third way. Not just public or private, not just traditional or homeschool, but purpose driven, gospel centered learning that meets families where they are. At the Masterpiece Academy, we're building that kind of model. And we're looking at ways to to expand our reach through partnerships, online platforms, and hybrid learning environments. Because this movement is bigger than one school. It's a mission. So one way we've already been living out that mission is through the Bible Bee. Look at my shirt. Family Summer Study, which we've hosted. My husband, I hosted that for the past two years using the Masterpiece Academy's tools. And we're excited to be launching our third summer right now. So this initiative brings families together to study God's word, build scripture memory, and grow in community.
It's more than a program. It's a discipleship in action. So we're currently recruiting families to Participate in the 2025 Bible Bee family Summer Study. And if you want to join us for a summer of intentional growth and connection around scripture, well, now is the perfect time. Okay, so what Masterpiece Academy believes about education in the next generation? Well, we believe education is discipleship. And that means the goal is not just about information. It's about transformation. And we want students to know truth, leave it out, and apply it in real life. We believe every child is made in the image of God with a purpose and calling. And our job is to help them discover that not by controlling them, but by guiding them with wisdom, grace, and high expectations. We believe teachers are not just instructors, they're mentors, and that families are not just clients, they're co laborers in the formation of young hearts and minds. And we believe the best education doesn't pull students away from Scripture, it weaves Scripture into every part of learning.
So looking ahead before we wrap up, I want to leave you with this encouraging verse that's been you've been heard a lot in our podcasts series. Train up a child in the way he should go. Even when he's old, he will not depart from it. And that's Proverbs 22:6.
This timeless truth reminds us why the work we're doing at home, in the classroom, and in partnership with one another matters so deeply. This is just the beginning.
In the coming months, Masterpiece Academy is looking to partner with like minded organizations to expand access to high quality biblical based education. We believe that blended learning, when done right, can be deeply personal, spiritually formative, and academically rigorous.
We'll be talking more about this in future episodes, so if you're a parent looking for something different or an educator who is passionate about shaping the next generation, stay connected.
